WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS ARE SAYING

"Knox is the best. I never have any pest issues which is proof their product works. The technicians are always very accommodating and the billing department is very professional."

(A message from our owner, Sean Knox)

In the pest control industry, and really in any business, it’s incredibly easy to get caught in the “tyranny of the urgent.” Every day brings a new fire to put out, a new customer issue, or an unexpected operational challenge. If you’re not careful, you can spend all your time reacting, and you’ll look up a year later in the exact same place you started.

The only way to ensure real, sustainable progress is to be intentional. For me, that intention is built on a foundation of setting priorities / goals. This isn’t just corporate-speak; it’s the single most effective tool for finding focus and ensuring that every action we take is purposeful.

I believe it’s vitally important to set priorities to find focus. At Knox Pest Control, we have a world of opportunities, but we can’t pursue all of them at once with excellence. Priorities are our filter. They help us decide what to say “yes” to and, just as importantly, what to say “no” to, or “not right now.” Does this new technology align with our priority of customer service? Does this market expansion fit our priority of team development? This clarity is what keeps the entire organization moving in the same direction.

Once our main priorities are clear, we build a framework of short- and long-term goals. This is how we make the vision tangible.

Long-term goals are our North Star. They answer the question, “Where are we going?” It could be a five-year vision for the company, a cultural benchmark, or our ultimate brand promise to our customers. This is the “why” that motivates the team.

But a North Star is useless if you don’t know how to take the first step. That’s where short-term goals come in. These are the measurable, achievable steps that allow you to track and measure your purpose and path. They break the long-term vision down into quarterly, monthly, or even weekly objectives. For a business like ours, this is where the real work happens.

This is why, as a leader, I am so focused on measurables and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators). Without them, setting priorities / goals is just wishful thinking. You must have a way to know if you’re winning or losing. At Knox Pest Control, we track everything: customer satisfaction scores, technician efficiency, client retention rates, new sales growth, and even our team’s engagement.

These numbers aren’t for a dusty report that sits on a shelf. They are our live feedback loop. They help us to readjust if needed and check ourselves through the process. If we see a dip in customer satisfaction in a certain region, we can dive in and find out why. Is it a training issue? A new competitor? A bad product? The data points us to the right questions.
